Finding and Fixing Card Count Errors in Pokémon TCG Pocket
Struggling with mismatched card counts between Pokémon TCG Pocket and your website tracker? Here’s a simple process of elimination method to quickly find where the discrepancies are and keep your collection in sync.
Have you ever noticed your Pokémon TCG Pocket card counts don’t match the numbers on your website tracker? It happens often, usually after trades or dust conversions, and it can be frustrating to track down the cause. I’ve been through it too, and I’ve found a method that makes the process a lot easier.
The Problem: Mismatched Card Counts
Sometimes the website doesn’t get updated after a trade. Other times, dust conversions throw things off. Whatever the reason, figuring out where the numbers went wrong can take a long time if you try to check card by card.
The Solution: Half-and-Half Elimination
Here’s the approach that saves me the most time:
1. Use the search function on both platforms.
Open the app and your website tracker side by side and use search to quickly compare results.
2. Filter by rarity.
Start with common rarities, since those usually make up the bulk of a collection.
3. Divide by expansions.
Choose two expansions at a time. In the app, you’ll see the combined total, while the website shows them separately. Add those two together and compare the numbers.
4. Check the totals.
If the totals match, those expansions are in sync. If not, you’ve found the section where the issue is.
5. Repeat the process.
Keep going with different expansions and rarities until you narrow it down to the exact cards that are off.
Why It Works
By cutting your collection in half each time, you avoid having to manually check every single card. It’s simply a faster way of finding the problem through elimination.
Pro Tip: Trades and Counts
Keep in mind that the app deducts cards as soon as a trade is initiated, even if the trade isn’t completed. If you notice a difference, a pending trade could be the reason.
My Experience
This approach has made a big difference for me. It turns what used to be a long and tedious process into something I can sort out in a fraction of the time. Hopefully, it helps you keep your collection in sync as well.
